Lavender Moon Milk Recipe & About Adaptogens

For those interested in the Lavender Moon Milk I mentioned in my Facebook post last night, here's a lil more about it and the recipe!

I started making Moon Milk a while back as a way to start introducing the adaptogen Ashwagandha into my system.

For those not familiar with adaptogens, they are super beautiful, healing plant that has the ability to protect the mitochondria from stress induced damage by helping the cell to produce proteins that benefit the body in amazing ways. Which means that, over some time of using this incredible Ayurvedic healing plant, your body will begin to create these proteins naturally on it's own!

Ashwagandha Root is commonly used for its astounding effects of:

🌿 lowing blood sugar levels

🌿 cortisol levels

🌿 reducing anxiety & depression

🌿 balancing hormone levels

🌿 reduces cholesterol

🌿 improves brain function

and that's just to name a few!

Sooooo, who wouldn't want to introduce some amazing adaptogens into their life, right?! You can use them in smoothies, different teas, I've even seen it made into ice cream! But my favorite way to use this powder is in Lavender Moon Milk.

Here's the recipe!!

(please note that Ashwagandha is not recommended for anyone pregnant or breastfeeding. It's also recommended to avoid Ashwagandha use if you experience an autoimmune disorder as in may result in inflammation. Always check with health professionals before introducing new remedies into your systems!)

Lavender Moon Milk Recipe

Ingredients

About 1 1/2 cups of milk (I use lavender blueberry almond milk from Trader Joe's!!)

A sleepy tea of your choosing (I use lavender & chamomile typically but have been trying lavender & Rooibos tea lately!)

1 teaspoon of Ashwagandha powder (find in my "must haves" section of my shop here)

1/2 teaspoon of Agave Nectar

Preparing the Moon Milk

Simmer the milk on stovestop (med to low heat) for about 5-8 minutes or until frothy

Milk shouldn't boil but get a frothy latte consistency

Add in your tea to steep

Add in Ashwagandha powder and mix WELL (not the easiest to stir in unfortunately and can be clumpy if not stirred well)

Use as much agave to sweeten to taste (blueberry lavender milk is very sweet so I don't use much!)

That's it! You've made a delicious and dreamy milk that will not only put you fast to sleep but also heal your amazing vessel too!

I hope this was helpful for you and that you enjoy your magickal milk!

Stay cheesin for no reason!
